First All-Girls Sainik School Opens in Vrindavan, Igniting Hope for Aspiring Female Soldiers

In a landmark moment for women’s empowerment and national defense, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh inaugurated the first all-girls Sainik School in Vrindavan, Uttar Pradesh, on January 1, 2024. This beacon of light, aptly named Samvid Gurukulam Girls Sainik School, marks a significant step towards breaking barriers and paving the way for young women to aspire to careers in the Indian Armed Forces.

Empowering Women, Strengthening the Nation:

With a student body of approximately 870, Samvid Gurukulam is one of 42 new Sainik Schools established under the government’s ambitious initiative of creating 100 such schools in partnership with private entities and state governments. This adds to the existing 33 Sainik Schools, offering more opportunities for young minds across India to receive a top-notch education imbued with rigorous training and discipline.

Speaking at the inauguration, Raksha Mantri Singh hailed the school as a “beacon of light” for girls harboring dreams of serving the nation in uniform. He emphasized the government’s commitment, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, to grant women their rightful place in the armed forces. “They have the right to protect the nation just like their male counterparts,” he declared, citing the landmark decision of opening Sainik Schools to girls in 2019.
