Governor Applauds Indian Forces During Border Area Visit in Kinnaur District
Kinnaur District:
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla made his inaugural visit to the border areas adjoining Kinnaur district today, where he interacted with Jawans at the Sumdoh army base camp and met with the Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) personnel stationed at Lepcha, a forward post of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police located at an altitude of 13,000 feet. Accompanying him was Lady Governor Janaki Shukla.
During the visit, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla expressed his deep admiration for the valor displayed by Indian forces guarding the nation under challenging topographical conditions. He acknowledged that serving in such harsh climates with sub-zero temperatures was an arduous task and commended the Indian forces for their vigilant watch over activities on the other side of the border. Conducting reconnaissance missions in such demanding terrain is no small feat, and he saluted these brave soldiers for their dedication and enthusiasm while serving far from their homes. He emphasized that the passion and dedication exhibited by these soldiers in their service to the country were truly remarkable. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla also highlighted that the Indian army ranks among the best globally, safeguarding the nation against foreign aggression to ensure the safety of its people.
Upon his arrival at the Sumdoh helipad, the Governor received a warm welcome from Brigade Commander Brigadier R.P. Singh and officials from Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur district administration. Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Lady Governor Janaki Shukla planted deodar saplings at the Sumdoh military camp.
ITBP Commandant Shripal provided the Governor with an overview of the frontier post and its day-to-day operations.
Subsequently, the Governor visited various villages covered under the Vibrant Village Scheme. He also had the opportunity to meet with residents of border villages, who shared their demands and concerns. In response, the Governor assured them that infrastructure development was progressing rapidly in the area, with a focus on providing essential services such as drinking water schemes and other facilities.
The visit was attended by Secretary to the Governor Rajesh Sharma, Deputy Commissioner Lahaul-Spiti Rahul Kumar, Superintendent of Police Mayank Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Kinnaur Torul S. Ravish, Superintendent of Police Vivek Chahal, and other dignitaries.
Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla’s visit underscores the government’s commitment to recognizing and appreciating the dedicated service and challenging conditions faced by Indian forces stationed in border areas while actively working to improve infrastructure and amenities for residents.
