Gurupurab celebrated with religious fervor at Chandigarh Vidya Jyoti Eduversity

The 554th Birthday of founder and first Guru of Sikhism, Guru Shri Nanak Dev Ji was celebrated with religious fervor . The main programme was organized at Chandigarh Vidya jyoti eduversity, under the guidance of Gurudwara, Golumajra . These Gurus were responsible for shaping the beliefs of the Sikhs. Their birthdays, known as Gurpurab, are occasions for celebration and prayer among the Sikhs.

The Shabad-Kirtan, Katha and pravachan on the teachings and life of Guru Nanak Dev Ji were the highlights of the celebration. Guru Granth Sahib Sukhmani Paath and Ardaas was recited. During the programme , Various Schools and Colleges ( Guruteg Bahadur senior secondary school,Lord Mahavir Jain public school,God blessing public school, GSSS amlala school, Gmsss Chandigarh,Govt college ,Derabassi, Longowal polytechnic college) had participated in competition like Shabad Kirtan ,Turban tying ,poetry , painting and sketching .The event lasted for 2hrs followed by prize distribution and Langar .College faculty had also contributed immensely by serving parshada”s at langar . The prizes were distributed by Dr DJ Singh and Mrs Manpreet Kaur to all school and colleges participants
