Haryana Celebrates its Rich Livestock Heritage at the 40th State Livestock Exhibition
Mahendragarh, February 25: The 40th State Livestock Exhibition-2024, a three-day event showcasing the best of Haryana’s livestock sector, concluded today at the Haryana Central University campus in Jat Pali village. The event was graced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who emphasized the state’s commitment to promoting animal husbandry and dairy farming.
Key Highlights:
- CM lauds Haryana’s Murrah buffalo breed: The CM highlighted the global fame of Haryana’s Murrah buffalo breed, and the state’s unique distinction of being the only one to market A-2 pasteurized milk from desi cows.
- Financial support for farmers: To support livestock farmers, the CM announced various initiatives, including:
- Cash incentives of up to ₹30,000 for owners of high-quality, high-yielding Murrah buffaloes.
- 1.56 lakh Pashudhan Kisan Credit Cards issued, providing over ₹2,000 crore in loans to farmers.
- ₹72 crore in subsidies for 31,914 livestock units established under the Mukhyamantri Antyodaya Parivar Uthan Yojana.
- Insurance and vaccination: The CM highlighted the Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Samuhik Pashudhan Bima Yojana, which has insured 10.42 lakh animals in the state. He also mentioned Haryana’s pioneering use of a combined vaccine to protect cows and buffaloes from foot and mouth disease and rinderpest.
- Cattle conservation: The CM spoke about the government’s efforts to conserve and promote indigenous cattle breeds. He mentioned the establishment of specialized centers in Karnal, Mahendragarh, and Kaithal for this purpose.
- Gausanrakshan and Gaushala: To support gaushalas, the government will provide ₹70 lakh for the construction of sheds for 1000 animals. A Gau Seva Aayog has also been constituted to oversee gaushalas and cattle welfare.
Other dignitaries: The event was also attended by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Jai Prakash Dalal, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Om Prakash Yadav, and other officials.
