Haryana CM Calls for Unified Support for Assembly Building in Chandigarh

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini emphasized the need for all political parties to rise above politics and present a united front on the construction of Haryana’s new Assembly building in Chandigarh. Addressing the Haryana Vidhan Sabha during a discussion on the issue, the CM called the matter “serious and significant” and urged all members to collaborate for the state’s greater good.

During the debate, opposition members expressed their willingness to back the government, urging the Chief Minister to lead the initiative, ensuring all parties stand together in advocating for Haryana’s rights.

The CM drew parallels with the unresolved Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal water-sharing dispute, accusing Punjab’s leadership of politicizing the issue. He reminded the Assembly that despite the Supreme Court’s directive for Haryana’s farmers to receive their rightful share of water, Punjab’s political maneuvers have continued to delay justice. “It is unfortunate to see even the apex court being bypassed in such matters,” said Saini.

He further criticized Punjab’s objections to Haryana’s Assembly construction in Chandigarh, calling such resistance another example of unnecessary politicization. “This is a matter where the entire state stands united. All members of this Assembly are in agreement, and our collective voice will shape the way forward,” he assured.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed Haryana’s commitment to ensuring its constitutional and rightful claims in both the Assembly and SYL matters, asserting that cooperation among political parties is crucial for achieving these objectives.

This call for unity reflects Haryana’s determination to uphold its rights amid inter-state disputes, aiming to protect its resources and infrastructure for the welfare of its citizens.
