Haryana CM Manohar Lal announces rehabilitation plan for slum dwellers in Panchkula

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Sunday announced that a comprehensive plan will be soon prepared for the rehabilitation of slum dwellers living in slums in Panchkula district’s Khark Mangoli village and Rajiv and Indira colonies.

The CM inspected the land identified for the rehabilitation of people in Khark Mangoli village. Around 7500 slums have been identified that will benefit from this scheme.

The CM said that people have been living in illegal slums in Khark Mangoli, Rajiv and Indira colonies of Panchkula for years. The Haryana Urban Development Authority (HSVP) has identified 59.12 acres of land in Khark Mangoli village to remove illegal encroachments and rehabilitate the people.

The HSVP has been directed to hold a meeting with the Forest Department, Public Works Department, Irrigation and Water Resources Department and Revenue Department soon to discuss all aspects related to the land and prepare a plan.

The CM said that he visited Dhanas and Maloya areas of Chandigarh today along with Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Gian Chand Gupta to interact with the people living in slums and the administration officials to prepare a plan for the rehabilitation of people living in slums in Khark Mangoli, Rajiv and Indira colonies. He said that before finalizing the plan, all stakeholders will be consulted and different models will be discussed. If needed, the government will also provide loans to the beneficiaries from the bank.

The CM said that the HSVP has some land along the Ghaggar river, which is not useful due to being in low-lying areas. He has directed the HSVP to prepare a plan for the use of this land keeping in view the safe flow of water in the Ghaggar river so that the area can be developed in a coordinated manner.
