Haryana CM Unveils Budget for 2024-25: Prioritizing Antyodaya and GYAN

The Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr. Manohar Lal, has unveiled the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, with a pronounced focus on the principles of “Antyodaya” (upliftment of the last person) and “GYAN” (empowerment of the poor, youth, farmers, and women). In his address to the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Minister underscored the government’s commitment to providing adequate support to the marginalized sections of society while creating better opportunities for the youth and women empowerment.

A key highlight of the budget announcement was the significant allocation towards the welfare of farmers, with a special provision for the waiver of interest and penalties on crop loans disbursed through primary agriculture cooperative societies (PACS). This move is aimed at providing relief to farmers burdened by debt, allowing them to access fresh credit for the upcoming Kharif season of 2024. The waiver encompasses an amount of ₹1739 crore, demonstrating the government’s proactive approach towards addressing the financial challenges faced by the agricultural community.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister emphasized the expansion of the PACS framework beyond agricultural loans to encompass a broader spectrum of services including food processing, packaging, marketing, storage, transportation, insurance, and other rural-based initiatives. The incorporation of 500 new PACS and 1000 new Hara-Hit stores in the fiscal year 2024-25 reflects the government’s efforts to enhance rural infrastructure and facilitate socio-economic development at the grassroots level.

In addition to the agricultural sector, the budget allocates resources for commemorating the contributions of revered figures in society. As part of this initiative, the government has allocated land for the establishment of a memorial dedicated to Guru Ravidas in Pipali, Kurukshetra, marking the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti. This gesture acknowledges the cultural and historical significance of influential personalities and aims to preserve their legacy for future generations.

The budget presentation was not merely a fiscal exercise but a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive growth and equitable development. It reflects a holistic approach towards addressing the multifaceted needs of society, ranging from agrarian reforms to cultural preservation. Through strategic allocation of resources and targeted interventions, the government endeavors to uplift the underprivileged sections of society while fostering an environment conducive to overall prosperity and well-being.

The presence of senior officials from various departments underscores the collective effort and collaborative approach adopted in formulating and executing the budgetary provisions. Their involvement reaffirms the government’s resolve to translate vision into action, ensuring that the budget serves as a catalyst for transformative change and sustainable progress across all sectors of the economy.

In conclusion, the budget announcement signifies more than just a financial roadmap; it symbolizes a vision for a more inclusive, resilient, and prosperous Haryana. By prioritizing Antyodaya and GYAN, the government aims to create a future where every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive and contribute to the state’s growth story.
