Haryana Governor Meets Dr. Dharma Rao to Discuss Progress in TB-Free Campaign

Haryana Governor Shri Bandaru Dattatraya held an in-depth meeting with Dr. Dharma Rao, Advisor for the Pradhan Mantri TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, at Raj Bhavan on Thursday. The meeting was attended by Dr. Anjori Agarwal, National Advisor, Dr. Sukhwant Singh and Dr. Nishant Soni, WHO Advisors for Haryana, Dr. Chinnar from the APO State TB Cell Haryana, and Ms. Sarita Naryal from the ACSM State TB Cell Haryana. Dr. Rao provided detailed insights into the ongoing TB-free campaign in the state, highlighting its impact on the community. Governor Dattatraya, who is actively involved in the campaign as a ‘Ni-Kshay’ (Friend), emphasized the Prime Minister’s goal of making India TB-free by 2025, ahead of the WHO’s 2030 target. He praised the initiative, which enlists ‘Ni-Kshay’ friends to support TB patients with nutrition, additional diagnosis, and professional assistance. The Governor commended the efforts of the officers involved in the campaign and urged them to enhance awareness about TB, particularly in rural areas and among women. Dr. Rao shared that 6157 people in Haryana are part of the Ni-Kshay initiative, with 3635 actively working. Haryana has 44241 active TB patients, and the TB Mukt Panchayat program has rendered 580 Panchayats TB-free. Governor Dattatraya appealed to all societal organizations and intellectuals to join the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, adopt TB-affected individuals, and contribute to this significant public service program, reinforcing the state’s commitment to eradicating TB.
