Haryana Police Establishes Election Cell for Peaceful Lok Sabha Elections
Election cell established by Haryana Police to conduct Lok Sabha elections in the state in a free, fair and peaceful manner. The cell will be operated 24 hours, nodal officers appointed in the cell for monitoring at different levels. Chandigarh, March 20 – To conduct the Lok Sabha elections 2024 in a free, fair and peaceful manner in the state of Haryana, Haryana Police has established an election cell at Police Headquarters, Sector-6, Panchkula. Through this cell, adherence to the model code of conduct will be ensured in the state so that people can exercise their franchise in an impartial manner without fear. Giving information about this, Director General of Police Mr. Shatrujit Kapoor said that along with maintaining law and order in the state, the Election Cell will monitor many other important election related activities. Additional Director General of Police, Law and Order Shri Sanjay Kumar has been appointed as the State Nodal Officer for the supervision of the cell, while DSP, Law and Order, Mamta Souda has been appointed as the nodal officer. Apart from this, DSP and ASP level officers have been appointed as nodal officers in all the districts of the state, who will send daily reports of their districts regarding the prescribed points to the election cell established in the police headquarters. Giving information about the functioning of the election cell, Mr. Kapoor said that through the election cell set up at the police headquarters, adherence to the guidelines issued under the Model Code of Conduct in the state will be ensured. He said that the Election Cell will establish coordination with the districts regarding the availability and deployment of police force and related issues. Along with this, a decision will also be taken to identify critical (complex) areas at different places in the state and deploy police personnel there. Along with this, reports related to the items sealed by the districts on daily basis, election related complaints, adherence to model code of conduct etc. will also be sent to the election cell. The election cell will remain operational 24 hours. Staff duty will be ensured here even on gazetted holidays and holidays (Saturday and Sunday). He said that to ensure peaceful conduct of Lok Sabha elections, monitoring is being done at different levels in the state. The police will keep a close watch on the entire state to follow the model code of conduct and maintain law and order. Shri Kapoor said that the election related guidelines are being ensured in the state through the Election Commission’s C-Vigil app. Not only this, 12 CAPF companies have also reached the state and have been deployed in different districts. Shri Kapoor appealed to the general public to cooperate with the Haryana Police in conducting the elections in a free, fair and peaceful manner and must exercise their franchise. He said that people should exercise their franchise without fear and without any inducement.
