Haryana’s Housing Dream: 2 Lakh Poor Families to Receive Land and Flats Soon”
Chandigarh, November 12 – In a significant move toward fulfilling the housing dreams of the underprivileged, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini’s government is set to provide land plots to nearly 2 lakh eligible families in the state. As part of a new blueprint under development, the government will allocate 100-square-yard plots in villages to applicants without land, marking a major step in the Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana. This initiative aims to uplift poor families by enabling them to own land and build homes, creating safer, more stable living conditions across rural areas.
Following a review of the housing project by Chief Minister Saini, Director General of the Housing for All Department, J. Ganesan, recently met with department officials to expedite the scheme’s rollout. The CM has emphasized the importance of ensuring that these plots have essential amenities such as paved roads, clean drinking water, street lighting, solar power, green parks, and other infrastructure similar to urban standards, creating fully equipped residential spaces for beneficiaries. Financial aid for construction will also be provided under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural) to ensure that families can complete their homes.
The ambitious Mukhyamantri Gramin Awas Yojana saw applications from 5 lakh individuals, all of whom will eventually receive these plots in phases, with the first 2 lakh beneficiaries set to receive their allotments soon.
In addition to rural housing initiatives, Haryana’s Mukhyamantri Shahri Awas Yojana is on track to improve urban infrastructure in 14 cities, with Chief Minister Saini preparing to inaugurate infrastructure works worth approximately ₹170 crore. Financial aid of ₹2.5 lakh will be provided to beneficiaries in urban areas for home construction, linking them to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Further, the state is moving forward with plans to allot 6,618 flats across eight districts to those registered under the Mukhyamantri Shahri Awas Yojana for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). In Jagadhari’s Sector 23, 2,000 additional beneficiaries will soon receive possession of land plots, with necessary facilities in place for immediate construction.
This comprehensive housing initiative by the Haryana government underscores Chief Minister Saini’s commitment to improving living conditions for the state’s poor, bridging the gap between urban and rural amenities, and realizing the dream of home ownership for thousands of families.
