Himachal CM Sukhvinder Sukhu Warns of Expulsion for BJP MLAs Over Misconduct, Criticizes Opposition’s Leadership
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu has announced the potential expulsion of nine BJP MLAs from the Himachal Pradesh Vidhan Sabha for their alleged misconduct during the Budget session in February this year. Addressing a public meeting following the filing of nomination papers by Congress candidate Pushpinder Verma, Sukhu emphasized the gravity of the MLAs’ behavior towards the Speaker’s chair.
Sukhu also took the opportunity to criticize former Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, urging him to abandon unrealistic aspirations of forming a government and instead focus on strengthening his party in the state. He pointed out that a petition against the nine BJP MLAs is currently pending with the Speaker, and accused Thakur of misleading the public with confusing statements. Sukhu confidently asserted that with 38 Congress MLAs in the House, his government is poised to complete its full term.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister targeted BJP candidate Ashish Sharma, alleging his involvement as a key figure in the local mining mafia, operating over five crushers. Sukhu claimed that Ashish Sharma’s association with former MLA Rajender Rana, whom he referred to as his political mentor, had already jeopardized his political career.
The statements and allegations underscore the heated political climate in Himachal Pradesh as the state gears up for the upcoming bypolls, reflecting the ongoing rivalry between the Congress and BJP.
