Himachal Pradesh Bans Exit Polls for Assembly Bye-Elections
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has imposed a complete ban on conducting, publishing, or disseminating any type of exit poll from 7 AM to 6:30 PM on July 10, 2024, the day of the bye-elections in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly constituencies of Dehra, Hamirpur, and Nalagarh. Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Maneesh Garg stated that this measure is crucial to ensuring free and fair elections. Additionally, during the 48-hour period before the conclusion of the poll, the display of any kind of election matter, such as opinion poll results or survey data, will be prohibited on electronic media. This decision underscores the ECI’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and transparency of the electoral process.
