Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Flags Off Citizen Solidarity March on International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction

On the occasion of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu flagged off a Citizen Solidarity March from Oak Over to the Ridge in Shimla.

In his speech, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of awareness in dealing with disasters effectively. He said that people should be prepared to face any kind of calamity including earthquakes in the near future.

He thanked the people of the State for coming forward and donating generously towards the noble cause of disaster relief. He revealed that so far about Rs. 222 crore has been received in the Disaster Relief Fund.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated an exhibition at the Ridge showcasing the latest equipment’s to deal with disasters.
