Himachal Pradesh CM Inaugurates First Outdoor Escalators at Hanuman Temple Jakhu, Shimla, Enhancing Pilgrim Experience

In a significant development aimed at enhancing the pilgrimage experience, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated Himachal’s first outdoor escalators at the renowned Hanuman Temple Jakhu in Shimla. Situated at an altitude of 2455 meters above sea level, the project, worth Rs. 7.94 crore, boasts a carrying capacity of 6000 persons per hour and was installed by Schindler India.

The inauguration ceremony marked a milestone in the state’s efforts to improve accessibility and convenience for pilgrims visiting the temple. With the installation of four escalators, visitors can now traverse the steep terrain from the parking lot to the temple premises with ease and comfort. Equipped with double drives and safety brakes on both sides, the escalators prioritize passenger safety while ensuring a smooth and seamless journey.

Adding to the aesthetic appeal of the escalators, paintings depicting the storyline of Ramayana adorn each level, enriching the spiritual ambiance of the pilgrimage site. Moreover, a thoughtful combination of materials, including louvers, polycarbonate sheets, and ACP sheets, allows ample natural light and ventilation, creating a pleasant environment for pilgrims.

To further enhance the pilgrim experience, LED spotlights have been strategically installed, illuminating the escalators and adding a touch of elegance to the journey. The integration of modern amenities with traditional elements reflects the government’s commitment to preserving heritage while embracing technological advancements.

Emphasizing the significance of Jakhu Temple as a major religious attraction, Chief Minister Sukhu affirmed the government’s commitment to providing essential facilities to pilgrims. The inauguration ceremony was preceded by the Chief Minister’s visit to the temple, where he paid obeisance and sought blessings for the well-being of the people.

The introduction of outdoor escalators at Hanuman Temple Jakhu represents a significant step towards promoting tourism and facilitating pilgrims in Himachal Pradesh.
