Himachal Pradesh Government Plans Major Reforms to Education Sector

The Himachal Pradesh government is planning to make major reforms to the education sector in the state. By 2026-2027, 2050 schools from Primary up to Senior Secondary level will be made ‘Chief Minister Schools of Excellence’. The state government is also contemplating opening English medium schools in the government sector and starting a School Adoption Program. Additionally, the department will explore the possibilities of roping in guest lecturers, prepare a detailed proposal for the Guest Lecturer Scheme, and prepare a calendar to ensure mandatory 220 teaching days in an academic session. Teachers will also be provided with compulsory training on the first appointment. Five schools excelling in all sectors will be honoured at the district level and the state government will encourage schools and teachers doing commendable work. Admission in first class at the age of six years will be ensured in government educational institutions and life-skills will be imparted according to the age group of the students. The construction work of Atal Adarsh Vidyalaya will be completed soon and these schools will be operated from next year.
