Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a high-level meeting today to review the progress of the Bulk Drug Park in the Haroli assembly segment of Una district. The Chief Minister emphasized the strategic role of the State Government in this project, pledging additional funding beyond the Government of India’s aid to ensure its timely completion.

The project, sprawling over 570 hectares, is estimated to cost Rs. 1923 crore. In the meeting, it was decided that the State Government would cover the operational costs for the first ten years, reflecting its commitment to the project’s success. Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted that this Bulk Drug Park is one of the most critical projects for the state, promising to expedite its completion to boost revenue and create substantial job opportunities for the youth.

Key features of the Bulk Drug Park include a common effluent treatment plant with a 5 MLD capacity, a solid waste management plant, a stormwater drain network, a common solvent storage, recovery, and distillation facility, a steam generation plant, an advanced laboratory testing centre, an emergency response centre, a hazardous operations audit centre, and a centre of excellence. In addition, the project will see the construction of essential infrastructure such as pathways, a canteen, a fire station, an administrative block, and comprehensive site development works.

Chief Minister Sukhu directed the industries department to expedite the tender process and address any bottlenecks to bring this project to fruition promptly. He insisted that all codal formalities should be completed in a time-bound manner, underscoring the importance of adhering to deadlines to avoid unnecessary delays.

The meeting saw valuable contributions from Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, and Education Minister Rohit Thakur, who offered their insights to enhance the project’s viability and industry friendliness. Their inputs were aimed at ensuring that the Bulk Drug Park not only meets current industrial standards but also anticipates future needs, making it a sustainable and forward-looking initiative.

MLA Dharampur Chander Shekhar, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Principal Secretaries R.D. Nazeem and Devesh Kumar, OSD to Chief Minister Gopal Sharma, Secretary to Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar, Advisor Infrastructure Anil Kapil, Director Industries Rakesh Prajapati, and Additional Director Tilak Raj Sharma were also present at the meeting, demonstrating a united front in driving this ambitious project.

The Chief Minister reiterated that the establishment of the Bulk Drug Park is poised to be a game-changer for Himachal Pradesh, both in terms of economic growth and employment generation. The state’s strategic partnership in this venture is expected to attract further investments and set a benchmark for industrial development in the region.
