Himachal Pradesh Government to Honor Asian Games Gold Medalists with Cash Prizes
The Himachal Pradesh government has announced cash prizes of Rs. 15 lakh each to the six players from the state who won gold medals in the recently concluded Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. The government has also proposed cash prizes worth one crore rupees to all the Himachali players who won medals and participated in the Asian Games.
The sports minister, Vikramaditya Singh, said that the government is determined to encourage the budding sports talents of Himachal and that these cash prizes are a token of appreciation for the players’ hard work and dedication.
The six players who will be awarded cash prizes of Rs. 15 lakh each are:
- Ritu Negi
- Pushpa
- Kumari Sushma
- Kumari Nidhi Sharma
- Kumari Jyoti
- Vishal Bhardwaj
These players were part of the gold medal winning kabaddi teams in the Asian Games.
The government will also provide an incentive amount of Rs. 1 lakh each to the seven players from Himachal who represented the country in handball at the Asian Games. The players are:
- Deeksha Kumari
- Priyanka Thakur
- Shalini Thakur
- Nidhi Sharma
- Mitali Sharma
- Bhavana
- Menka
In addition, the Youth Services and Sports Department will provide Rs. 63 lakh as award to the three players from Himachal who won medals in the Commonwealth Games in 2022. The players are:
- Renuka Thakur
- Vikas Thakur
- Ashish Kumar
The Himachal Pradesh government’s decision to honor the Asian Games gold medalists with cash prizes is a welcome move. It will show the players that their hard work and dedication are appreciated and will encourage them to continue to strive for excellence.
