Himachal Pradesh to Enhance Rail Network with Rs 13,168 Crore Investment

Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that a massive Rs 13,168 crore investment in railway projects within the state. Speaking at a program held at the Baijnath-Paprola railway station in Kangra district, the Governor highlighted that these projects are set to bolster the rail infrastructure, offering improved rail services to the residents.
The announcement came during the virtual inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event marked the commencement of the redevelopment of 554 railway stations and the construction of 1585 road over-bridges and underpasses nationwide under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. Notably, the Baijnath-Paprola station, along with a road over-bridge and underpass in kangra valley rail, are integral to these redevelopment efforts.
Governor Shukla expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister for initiating these significant projects in Himachal Pradesh and shared his enthusiasm for the renovation of the Baijnath Paprola station. Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the station is to be upgraded to world-class standards, anticipated to attract more tourists to the revered Shivbhumi Baijnath area.
Highlighting further initiatives, Governor Shukla mentioned the record Rs 2681 crore budget allocation for the fiscal year 2024-25, dedicated to railway development in the state. This includes the redevelopment of Amb Indora and Shimla railway stations and other developmental works aimed at facilitating easier and improved travel experiences.
The event was attended by MPs Kishan Kapoor and Indu Goswami, along with other dignitaries including Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, Chief Parliamentary Secretary Kishori Lal, and local administration and railway officials, underscoring a collaborative approach towards enhancing Himachal Pradesh’s railway network.
