In a momentous achievement, two industrial towns in Himachal Pradesh, Parwanoo and Kala Amb, have been honored with the prestigious “Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2023” national awards by the Education Department. Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu extended his warmest congratulations to the people of the state for this remarkable feat. He attributed this success to responsible and environmentally conscious tourism, the unwavering support of local communities, and the coordinated, sustained efforts of government agencies.

Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the state government’s commitment to achieving sustainable development while carefully preserving the environment. He highlighted Himachal Pradesh’s transformation into a green state, striving to strike a balance between development and eco-consciousness. Sukhu stated, “Setting ambitious targets, the state government, in collaboration with all stakeholders, aims to establish Himachal Pradesh as a green energy state by 31st March 2026.” This commitment is prominently reflected in the state’s recent budget, which places a strong emphasis on green energy initiatives.

Himachal Pradesh is actively reducing its reliance on fossil fuels, promoting the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), and championing the production of green hydrogen. The Chief Minister announced the establishment of green corridors in the state, making Himachal Pradesh a pioneer in this regard. Infrastructure development is in progress to support these green initiatives, with positive outcomes expected, particularly in green hydrogen production.

Over the next three years, the state plans to phase out government vehicles gradually and replace them with eco-friendly EVs. Concurrently, efforts to harness solar and wind energy are intensifying, reaffirming the state’s commitment to sustainable practices. To encourage the adoption of EVs, the state government is offering a 50 percent subsidy on the purchase of e-buses, e-trucks, and e-taxis within Himachal Pradesh. This forward-thinking initiative not only aims to reduce carbon emissions but also boost the livelihoods of individuals involved in the transportation sector.

Himachal Pradesh’s accolades in the “Swachh Vayu Sarvekshan 2023” awards underscore its dedication to a cleaner, greener future and serve as an inspiration for sustainable development nationwide.
