Hooda Slams BJP for Lagging in Development Across Haryana

Former Haryana Chief Minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda launched a scathing attack on the BJP government in the state during a session in the Vidhan Sabha. Highlighting the Congress’s development achievements during his tenure, Hooda accused the current government of failing to initiate significant infrastructure and educational projects over the past decade.

Hooda outlined the major projects undertaken during the Congress regime, showcasing it as a model of comprehensive development. He emphasized that his government established **12 universities, 45 government colleges, 154 polytechnic institutes, 56 ITIs, and 4 government engineering colleges**, along with creating **36 Aarohi schools and several model and cultural schools**. Additionally, a Central University was set up in Mahendragarh, and six new medical colleges were established in districts like Nuh, Bhiwani, Faridabad, and Karnal. He also highlighted the creation of India’s first women’s university and a National Cancer Institute in Badsa.

Hooda further mentioned that his government brought national-level institutions such as **IIM, IIT Extension, IIIT, AIIMS, NIFT, and FDDI** to Haryana. He criticized the BJP for its inability to establish similar institutes, claiming no significant additions in terms of universities, industries, or medical facilities.

In terms of industrial and transportation infrastructure, Hooda’s government introduced **Maruti, Honda, Asian Paints, and Reliance** to the state, along with **five power plants**, including a nuclear power plant. They extended the metro network to **81 kilometers**, reaching Bahadurgarh, Faridabad, Gurugram, and Ballabhgarh, and implemented rapid metro services in Gurugram. Moreover, his government laid new railway lines connecting Jind to Sonipat and Rohtak to Rewari.

Hooda contrasted this record with the BJP’s tenure, claiming no new medical colleges, power plants, or metro expansions. “The BJP failed to initiate a single large-scale industrial project or university in the past 10 years,” he asserted.

The Congress veteran questioned BJP’s developmental priorities, urging the ruling government to explain the lack of significant progress in infrastructure and public welfare projects. Hooda’s remarks resonated with the opposition, highlighting the rising political tensions over Haryana’s developmental trajectory.
