Patiala, October 2 – In a remarkable display of unity, a massive crowd gathered in Patiala for the rally featuring Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, commemorating the formal launch of “Sehatmand Punjab,” a health initiative with a budget of Rs 550 crore.

Addressing the enthusiastic crowd during the rally, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann declared the day as historic, marking the initiation of a healthcare revolution in the state. He reaffirmed the promises made during the election campaign to provide the people with quality healthcare and education facilities, highlighting the government’s dedication to the welfare and holistic development of the state.

Chief Minister Mann proudly announced that within the first 18 months of assuming office, his government had provided free electricity to the citizens, with 88% of households in Punjab now enjoying this benefit. Additionally, farmers in the state were also granted free and uninterrupted access to electricity.

Emphasizing his administration’s commitment to ensuring canal water reaches the farthest fields in the state, Mann highlighted the significant strides already made in distributing water to remote areas in Fazilka district. He pledged to optimize canal water usage to conserve groundwater, with the goal of increasing canal water coverage to 70-80% of farms by the next paddy season.

The Chief Minister took pride in the government’s accomplishment of offering 36,521 jobs within the initial 18 months of its tenure, setting a record for providing government employment to 2,000 youth every month. He underlined the principles of merit and transparency that guided these job placements.

Chief Minister Mann also highlighted the government’s initiatives to promote industrialization in Punjab through “Sarkar Sannatkaar Milnis,” contrasting them with the previous administrations that had pressured successful industrialists to share their ventures. He assured the public that his government would not demand shares in transport, industry, or any mafia but would stand by the people in their times of need.

This will include training and upskilling existing healthcare workers, and recruiting new healthcare workers.
  • Preventive Healthcare: The government will focus on preventive healthcare to reduce the burden of chronic diseases in the state. This will include promoting healthy lifestyles, providing early diagnosis and treatment of diseases, and educating the public about preventive healthcare measures.
  • Curative Healthcare: The government will also focus on curative healthcare to provide quality and affordable treatment to people who are sick. This will include providing free and subsidized treatment to the poor and vulnerable, and making expensive treatments more affordable for everyone.

Implementation of the Mission

The Sehatmand Punjab Mission will be implemented in a phased manner over the next five years. The government has already allocated Rs 550 crore for the first phase of the mission.

The government has also set up a special task force to oversee the implementation of the mission. The task force is headed by the Chief Secretary of Punjab and includes representatives from the health department, the finance department, and other relevant departments.

Mann inaugurated the Mata Kaushalya Hospital, promising to provide world-class healthcare services in government hospitals, building on the success of Aam Aadmi Clinics.

He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to progress and prosperity, emphasizing the availability of sufficient funds for these noble goals. He expressed confidence that Punjab would soon become a frontrunner state in the country, thanks to concerted efforts.

Mann proudly declared that, due to his government’s dedicated efforts, Punjab had become the preferred investment destination in India, attracting investments worth Rs 50,871 crore that would generate 2.89 lakh jobs for the youth. He vowed to attract even more investments to boost economic activity in the state.

To foster self-employment among the youth, Mann announced plans to issue permits for mini-buses, connecting rural areas to cities, benefiting 2,000-3,000 young entrepreneurs and ushering in unprecedented development.

Mann dismissed traditional political parties’ envy, emphasizing his common background and efficient governance. He called out previous leaders who had taken advantage of their positions for personal gain, noting that the public was no longer swayed by their misleading propaganda.

The Chief Minister promised to provide the Governor with a detailed account of the Rs 50,000 crore spent in the state for the welfare of the people, despite past Governors not requesting such details. He assured that the funds had been optimally utilized.

Mann criticized previous leaders for hindering Punjab’s progress and prosperity for their own interests, referring to them as responsible for the state’s distress. He asserted that history would not forgive them for betraying Punjab.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, addressing the crowd, commended the launch of the health revolution on Gandhi Jayanti, focusing on providing free and quality healthcare to the common man. Kejriwal praised the success of Aam Aadmi Clinics and announced plans to upgrade major hospitals in the state to offer similar services.

He shared the vision of transforming government hospitals to provide quality treatment equivalent to private hospitals, with a focus on adding ICUs to previously under-equipped facilities. Kejriwal disclosed plans to renovate 40 government hospitals into hi-tech healthcare centers at a cost of Rs 550 crore.

Kejriwal also lauded Bhagwant Singh Mann’s government for transforming government schools into centers of excellence, promising renovations for all government schools in the same manner. He applauded Mann’s administration for introducing major reforms in the state across various sectors within the first 18 months.

The Delhi Chief Minister pointed out the previous prevalence of corruption in Punjab politics, noting that the current government had taken strong actions against corrupt officials and leaders, vowing to recover misappropriated public funds.

Kejriwal announced plans to introduce Door Step Delivery of citizen-centric services in Punjab and promised strict action against drug peddlers from any party, ensuring that they face the consequences of their actions.
