Increased Security at Canadian High Commission in Delhi Amid Diplomatic Tensions

In the wake of escalating tensions between India and Canada, security measures at the Canadian High Commission in New Delhi were significantly reinforced today. This development occurred shortly after India took a reciprocal action to Canada’s expulsion of a senior Indian diplomat.

Multiple personnel from the Central Reserve Police and the Delhi Police were deployed outside the Canadian High Commission to ensure the safety and security of the diplomatic mission and its staff.

Canadian High Commissioner to India, Cameron MacKay, was summoned to South Block, the headquarters of the Ministry of External Affairs, today. During the meeting, he was officially informed about the decision taken by the Government of India to expel a senior Canadian diplomat who was based in India.

In an official statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, it was stated, “The High Commissioner of Canada to India was summoned today and informed about the decision of the Government of India to expel a senior Canadian diplomat based in India.”

The diplomatic standoff between India and Canada has prompted these measures, and it remains a matter of concern as both countries grapple with the evolving situation. The international community will be closely monitoring the developments and efforts to mitigate the tensions between the two nations.
