The officer had allegedly demanded a total of \u20b950,000 to dismiss an assault case and had <strong>already accepted \u20b920,000 earlier<\/strong>, ACB officials confirmed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arrest was made during a <strong>trap operation<\/strong> led by the ACB team after a complaint was lodged by <strong>Omprakash<\/strong>, a resident of <strong>Cheeka<\/strong>, who claimed the SHO was pressuring him for a bribe to drop a case filed against him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ACB Lays Trap, SHO Caught Red-Handed<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>ACB Kaithal In-Charge Subey Singh Saini<\/strong>, the complainant, Omprakash, approached the bureau with evidence of the bribe demand. SHO Rampal had allegedly threatened that the <strong>assault case would not be dropped unless \u20b950,000 was paid<\/strong>. Despite Omprakash&#8217;s claim of financial hardship, the officer allegedly insisted on the payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In response, the <strong>ACB appointed PWD Executive Engineer Varun Kansal as Duty Magistrate<\/strong> to oversee the sting operation. When Omprakash handed over the remaining \u20b930,000 to SHO Rampal, the ACB team <strong>immediately moved in and caught the officer red-handed<\/strong>. The <strong>full \u20b930,000 bribe amount<\/strong> was recovered from the officer on the spot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Corruption Case Registered, Court Appearance Scheduled<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The ACB has registered a case against Sub-Inspector Rampal under the <strong>Prevention of Corruption Act<\/strong>, and he is scheduled to be produced in court on <strong>Saturday<\/strong>.
