Amritsar, April 5, 2025<\/strong>: On the third day of his impactful anti-drug padyatra<\/strong>, Punjab Governor Gulab Chand Kataria<\/strong> emphasized the urgent need to create employment opportunities for youth<\/strong>, especially in border areas<\/strong>, and to actively engage them in sports and positive recreational activities<\/strong> to prevent them from falling prey to drug addiction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The awareness march, aimed at combating the growing menace of drug abuse in Punjab<\/strong>, began from Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School<\/strong> and concluded at Sri Guru Ram Das Nursing College<\/strong>. A patriotic atmosphere filled the air as the school\u2019s student band played inspiring national songs<\/strong>, drawing enthusiastic participation from locals, students, and volunteers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Governor Kataria Calls for Public Mobilization Against Drugs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Addressing a large gathering of students, Governor Kataria invoked the heroic sacrifices of Sikh Gurus<\/strong> including Guru Ram Das, Guru Teg Bahadur, and Guru Gobind Singh<\/strong>, encouraging young minds to embrace their legacy by participating in the collective battle against drug addiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur youth, particularly in border districts, need constructive outlets and better livelihood opportunities. This is key to safeguarding them from the deadly grip of narcotics,\u201d the Governor stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He made a fervent appeal to women and children<\/strong> to join the movement, urging that it be transformed into a mass people\u2019s campaign<\/strong> that reaches every household in Punjab.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No-Show by State Leadership Draws Questions<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When questioned about the absence of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann<\/strong> and other ruling party leaders during the padyatra, Kataria expressed hope that they might join the campaign on the fifth day or during its grand culmination<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
