The high-profile exits come at a crucial stage of political preparations for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections and have brought the ruling party’s internal challenges into sharper focus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, Chetan Singh Jouramajra and Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra formally joined the BJP at the party’s national headquarters in New Delhi in the presence of senior BJP leaders. Their induction marks a notable shift in Punjab’s political landscape, particularly as parties begin positioning themselves for the next Assembly contest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development followed a sequence of resignations over two days. Chetan Singh Jouramajra, who represents Samana, and Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, the MLA from Sanaur in Patiala district, announced their departure from the AAP on Sunday, November 1. On Monday, Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, who represented Amritsar North, announced his resignation from the Punjab Legislative Assembly before joining the BJP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All three had faced suspension from the AAP over alleged anti-party activities, according to media reports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Three exits, three politically significant constituencies<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The departures involve leaders associated with different regions and political constituencies in Punjab. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, a former senior police officer, had emerged as one of the prominent faces of the AAP in the run-up to the 2022 Assembly elections. His entry into the party followed his decision to leave the Indian Police Service and enter active politics. His resignation from the Assembly adds particular significance to the latest developments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chetan Singh Jouramajra, the Samana legislator and a former minister in the Bhagwant Mann government, also brings ministerial and organisational experience to the BJP. Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra represents Sanaur in Patiala district.
