NHPC Limited, a Navratna Public Sector Enterprise under the Government of India, celebrated the completion of 50 years of its establishment and its 51st Raising Day on November 7, 2025, with grand ceremonies held at its Corporate Headquarters in Faridabad and across all regional offices, power stations, and project sites. The occasion reflected not only a milestone of operational achievement, but also NHPC\u2019s steady evolution as India\u2019s leading hydropower and emerging green energy company.

At the Golden Jubilee celebration held at the Corporate Office, the Chief Guest, Union Minister of Power, Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, released a special \u201cCustomized My Stamp\u201d issued by India Post in honor of NHPC\u2019s 50-year journey. This stamp features 12 iconic NHPC dams and barrages, symbolizing the organization\u2019s engineering excellence and its contribution to harnessing clean energy resources for the country. The Minister also unveiled the \u201cAchievement Book\u201d documenting NHPC\u2019s five-decade-long journey, highlighting major milestones, technological advancements, and its role in advancing India\u2019s energy infrastructure since its formation in 1975.

The event began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp and included the presence of several dignitaries, including Sachin Kishore, Chief Postmaster General (Haryana Circle), Bhupender Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director, NHPC, Directors of NHPC, senior officials from the Ministry of Power, Central Electricity Authority, Central Electricity Regulatory Commission, and heads of various public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Power. A large number of NHPC employees and their families were also present.

In his address, the Union Minister congratulated NHPC for completing five decades of distinguished service and emphasized its vital contribution to India\u2019s energy security. He stated that NHPC has played a key role in promoting clean and sustainable hydropower and would continue to be central to India\u2019s roadmap to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2070. He stressed on greater adoption of renewable energy and technological innovation to meet the country\u2019s future power demands.

Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Shripad Naik, also extended congratulations through a video message. He described NHPC\u2019s five-decade journey as a testament to perseverance, technical skill, and commitment to national development.

Secretary (Power), Government of India, Shri Pankaj Agarwal, highlighted the significant responsibilities entrusted to NHPC and expressed confidence in its continued leadership in hydropower development as India progresses toward becoming a developed nation.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Bhupender Gupta, CMD, NHPC, expressed gratitude to the Government of India, Ministry of Power, and all stakeholders for their constant support. He said the Golden Jubilee was a moment of pride and reflection, symbolizing NHPC\u2019s strong identity in India\u2019s energy sector and its unwavering contribution to national growth.

The celebration also included the felicitation of winners under the \u201cNHPC Awards Scheme 2024-25\u201d, covering categories such as Best Power Station, Best Construction Project, and NHPC Star Awards. Cultural programs featuring performances by NHPC employees added a festive note to the occasion. The evening session featured artistic performances by noted singer and composer Anand Raj Anand and comedian Sanket Bhosale, who captivated the audience.

Earlier in the day, the NHPC flag was hoisted at the Corporate Office, followed by the singing of Vande Mataram to mark 150 years of the iconic national song. Employees also participated in a live web address by the Hon\u2019ble Prime Minister during celebrations organized by the Ministry of Culture.

As NHPC steps into its sixth decade, it stands at a pivotal juncture where hydropower and green energy are key to shaping India\u2019s sustainable growth trajectory. With expanding renewable capacity, technological modernization, and a growing portfolio of national and international projects, NHPC continues to reinforce its role as a cornerstone of India\u2019s clean energy future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
