While the ruling Aam Aadmi Party described the scheme as a historic step toward women\u2019s empowerment, opposition parties accused the government of delaying the implementation of its election promise. <br>Several opposition leaders argued that if the government was serious about supporting women, it should have provided the arrears for the past four years since coming to power. They claimed that women should have received around \u20b948,000 as cumulative support if the scheme had been implemented immediately after the 2022 elections. <br>Political observers believe that the women\u2019s cash assistance scheme could become one of the central issues in Punjab politics ahead of the next assembly elections.
