NCGG Concludes Successful Fourth Program for Sri Lankan Civil Servants

New Delhi, India – The National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG) successfully concluded its fourth capacity building program for senior Sri Lankan civil servants today. The program, held in New Delhi, aimed to share India’s successful governance models with its neighboring country and foster stronger bilateral ties.

Forty high-ranking officials from key Sri Lankan ministries, including the Commission of Local Government, Public Administration, Home Affairs, and Justice, participated in the intensive program. The participants, representing various levels of the Sri Lankan bureaucracy, gained valuable insights into India’s governance practices and explored potential areas of collaboration.

Key Highlights of the Program

  • Knowledge Exchange: The program focused on sharing India’s experience in good governance through interactive sessions and field visits. Participants explored innovative approaches to public service delivery, e-governance, and citizen-centric administration.
  • Focus on Key Areas: The program delved into specific areas of interest for Sri Lanka, including agriculture modernization, social welfare programs, and infrastructure development through public-private partnerships (PPPs).
  • Field Visits: Participants visited prominent institutions such as the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy, Forest Research Institute, and the Taj Mahal to gain firsthand experience of India’s initiatives in various sectors.
  • Bilateral Cooperation: The program emphasized the importance of bilateral cooperation between India and Sri Lanka, with a focus on sharing best practices and learning from each other’s experiences.

Strengthening India-Sri Lanka Partnership

Shri V. Srinivas, Director General of NCGG, highlighted the significance of the program in strengthening India-Sri Lanka relations. He emphasized the mutual benefits of knowledge sharing and cooperation in enhancing governance in both countries.

The program showcased India’s commitment to capacity building and its role as a knowledge partner for developing countries. By sharing its expertise, India aims to contribute to the development of effective and responsive governance systems in Sri Lanka.
