India to Confront England Without Jadeja and Rahul in Upcoming Vizag Test
Setback for India as Key Players Ruled Out Ahead of Second England Test
India prepares to enter the second Test match against England with a reshuffled lineup as crucial players Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul are sidelined due to recent injuries. This development comes after the team faced a defeat in the opening match of the five-Test series.
The cricketing saga now moves to the scenic city of Vizag, where the Indian team will contend without the services of both Jadeja and Rahul. Announced in an official declaration by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the pair’s condition was rendered untenable for the upcoming contest commencing on February 2, 2024.
“During the concluding moments of the initial Test at Hyderabad, Ravindra Jadeja encountered a hamstring setback, while KL Rahul was beset by discomfort in his right thigh muscle. The BCCI Medical Team is currently supervising their recuperation,” the statement communicated.
To mitigate these absences, the Indian selection panel has chosen to infuse new vigor into the squad with the induction of Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sourabh Kumar. Concurrently, Saransh Jain is poised to fill the void left by Sundar in India A’s team, who are slated for their clash with the England Lions starting on February 1, 2024, in Ahmedabad.
India’s squad, rejuvenated for the second Test against England, showcases a mix of established and emerging talents. The team, led by captain Rohit Sharma, features the likes of Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, wicketkeepers KS Bharat and Dhruv Jurel, seasoned spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, pace battery including Mohd. Siraj, Mukesh Kumar, and vice-captain Jasprit Bumrah, alongside the newly introduced Avesh Khan, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Washington Sundar, and Sourabh Kumar. This eclectic group promises to bring a new strategic depth to India’s performance in the forthcoming Test.
