Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti Celebrated with Grandeur in Haryana; CM Nayab Singh Saini Announces ₹51 Lakh for Valmiki Bhawan and Promises Upliftment of Marginalized Sections

Haryana celebrated the birth anniversary of Adi Kavi Maharishi Valmiki, the creator of the Ramayana, with grandeur and devotion. A grand state-level event was organized at Eklavya Stadium in Jind, where Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini participated as the chief guest. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced ₹51 lakh for the construction of Maharishi Valmiki Bhawan in Narwana and assured support for building a hostel in Hisar. The event witnessed the presence of thousands of people from across the state, reflecting the government’s commitment to honor the teachings and contributions of great saints.

Expressing his pride and joy at participating in the event, the Chief Minister paid homage to Maharishi Valmiki and stated that it is a privilege to witness the construction of the grand and divine Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Describing Valmiki as a Vedic scholar and a sage of unparalleled wisdom, the Chief Minister emphasized the universal relevance of his teachings, including compassion, respect for elders, and adherence to duty.

Chief Minister Saini outlined the government’s initiatives inspired by the ideals of Maharishi Valmiki and other luminaries. He announced the implementation of a policy to establish Harmony Heritage Centers in major cities to propagate the teachings of Maharishi Valmiki, Sant Kabir Das, Sant Ravidas, and Babasaheb Ambedkar. These centers will ensure that future generations imbibe the values of equality, harmony, and compassion.

The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s bold step of introducing sub-categorization in scheduled caste reservations. The reservation quota of 20% for scheduled castes in direct recruitment to government jobs has been bifurcated into two categories: Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSCs) and Other Scheduled Castes (OSCs), with 10% allocated to each. Vacant posts in either category will be filled by candidates from the other category, ensuring fair representation and opportunities for all.

Further, he commended the efforts of the state government in safeguarding the interests of sanitation workers. Initiatives such as the Haryana State Safai Karamchari Commission, increased insurance benefits for sanitation-related fatalities, and substantial salary hikes from ₹16,000 to ₹27,000 reflect the government’s commitment to upliftment. A provision to reserve 50% of cleaning contracts for sanitation worker groups has also been made.

In housing, the Chief Minister announced the construction of five lakh new houses for the urban and rural poor, including 30-square-yard plots under the Chief Minister Urban Housing Scheme. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has already delivered housing benefits to over 50 lakh families in the past decade. Financial aid under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Housing Renewal Scheme for home repairs was also increased to ₹80,000.

Chief Minister Saini reiterated the government’s commitment to welfare schemes such as the Happy Card Program for free travel of BPL families in Haryana Roadways buses and expanded health coverage under the Ayushman Bharat-Chirayu Scheme from ₹5 lakh to ₹10 lakh. The government has also implemented initiatives for women empowerment, including free education for daughters of families earning less than ₹1.8 lakh annually and incentives of ₹1.11 lakh for girls achieving over 90% in exams.

The Chief Minister also announced that the marriage grant under the Chief Minister Vivah Shagun Yojana for daughters of BPL families would be increased soon. Over 13 lakh free LPG connections under the Ujjwala Scheme and heavily subsidized gas cylinders at ₹500 have further strengthened efforts to improve the quality of life for economically weaker sections.

During his speech, Saini criticized the opposition for failing to fulfill their promises to the marginalized during their tenure and reaffirmed that the BJP government is working tirelessly to ensure transparency, accountability, and progress for all citizens. The Chief Minister attributed the success of initiatives like transparent recruitment in government jobs to BJP’s commitment to fairness and equality.

Prominent leaders like Haryana BJP President Mohan Lal Bhadoli, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, Cooperative Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma, Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana, and PWD Minister Ranbir Singh Gangwa were present, alongside several MPs, MLAs, and thousands of supporters from across the state.

Social Justice Minister Krishna Kumar Bedi and Assembly Deputy Speaker Dr. Krishna Lal Middha praised the government’s efforts, particularly in ensuring that Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSCs) receive their rightful share of reservations and benefits. Bedi thanked the Chief Minister for fulfilling a long-standing demand by the DSC community and accused previous governments of neglecting their welfare.

MLA Kapoor Singh Valmiki expressed gratitude for the administration’s commitment to uplifting marginalized sections, highlighting the allocation of BPL cards and provisions for improving the welfare of the poorest citizens. Emphasizing the BJP’s focus on reaching the last person in line, he reiterated the party’s dedication to inclusive growth.

The event marked a celebration of Maharishi Valmiki’s teachings and a reaffirmation of the Haryana government’s dedication to justice, equity, and progress for all.
