On-the-spot painting competition for school children held at Kalagram

CHANDIGARH, Nov 6

As many as 2000 students from government and non-government tricity schools took part in an on the on-the-spot painting competition organised by North Zone Cultural Centre (NZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in connection with its 38th Foundation Day at Kalagram here today.

Entries for the on-the-spot-painting competition were invited from students of LKG to 10+2 classes. A range of topics were given to the participants to dwell on, including ‘Play with colours’, ‘Draw and paint any bird, ‘Draw your favourite cartoon’, ‘My school’, ‘Jungle scene’, ‘Street performer’ and ‘Symphonies of Seasons’, et al.

The following were declared winners of the competition:

Group ‘A’ (LGK to UKG) – Hitaisha Jain, Bhavan Vidyalaya Junior, Sector 33-D, Chandigarh (1st Position); Devansh, Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 37, Chandigarh (2nd Position); Mahira Goyal, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 33-D, Chandigarh (3rd Position). The consolation prize winners were – Sukhmani, Chitkara International School, Chandigarh (1st); and Harman Sidhu, Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 31, Chandigarh.

Group ‘B’ (1st to 2nd) – Shruti Priya, Blue Bird High School, Sector 16, Panchkula (1st Position); Yuvam, DC Montessori Sr. Sec. School, Sector 13, Chandigarh (2nd Position); Shivansh, Satluj Public School (3rd Position). The consolation prize winners were – Riya Jaiswal, Stepping Stone School (1st); Kyna Singla, Bhawan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh (2nd).

Group ‘C’ (3rd to 4th) – Aarushi Sharma, Blue Bird High School, Sector 16, Panchkula (1st); Lakshika Jangra, Blue Bird High School, Sector 16, Panchkula (2nd); Myra, The Gurukul, Sector 20, Panchkula (3rd). The consolation prize winners were – Vipra Kamboj, I.S. Dev Samaj Sr. Sec. School, Sector 21, Chandigarh (1st); Arnav Gupta, Stepping Stones (2nd).

Group ‘D’ (5th to 6th) – Paavani Kandpal, Doon Public School, Sector 21, Panchkula (1st); Sanvi, Satluj Public School, Sector 4, Panchkula (2nd); Shivam Kumar, G.M.S.S. School, Sector 26 (T.M.), Chandigarh (3rd). The consolation prize winners were – Divya, Lohia International School, Manimajra, Chandigarh (1st); Komal, P.S. Model School, UT Chandigarh (2nd).

Group ‘E’ (7th to 8th) – Kalabiya, M.R.D. Model Middle School, Manimajra, Chandigarh (1st); Vritika Dhadwal, Hansraj Public School (2nd); Darsheen Kaur, Govt. Model Senior Secondary School,Sector 35-D, Chandigarh (3rd). The consolation prize winners were – Khushboo, Govt. High School, Daria, Chandigarh (1st); Vaibhavi Vij, Saupins School, Chandigarh (2nd).

Group ‘F’ (9th to 10th) – Hanshika, Ishwar Singh Dev Samaj Sr. Sec. School, Sector 21, Chandigarh (1st); Aastha, GMSSS, Raipur Kalan, UT Chandigarh (2nd); Kajal Chauhan, G.M.H.S., Sector 13, Chandigarh (3rd). The consolation prize winners were – Kanika, The Gurukul, Sector 20, Panchkula (1st); Divisha Das, Satluj Public School, Panchkula (2nd).

Group ‘G’ (10+1 to 10+2) – Drishti, Doon Public School, Sector 21, Panchkula (1st); Vasu Singh, The Tribune Model School, Sector 29-D, Chandigarh (2nd); Lavanya Tewari, Satluj Public School, Sector 4, Panchkula (3rd). The consolation prize winners were – Pinki, G.M.S.S. School, Sector 26 (T.M.), Chandigarh (1st); Kanav, G.M.S.S. School, Sector 19-C, Chandigarh.

Event in charge Yashwinder Sharma on the occasion said “The winners of competition will be given prizes and awarded with mementoes and merit certificates.”

The jury members included Balvinder Singh, former Principal, Government College-11, Ravinder Kumar Sharma, former Prof. Govt College of Arts, and Sadhna Sanger, former Principal, Govt College, Derabassi.
