Chandigarh, October 15 — In a strong-worded statement, Chief Minister of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann, lambasted the opposition parties for their apparent reluctance to participate in the forthcoming debate scheduled for November 1. Mann asserted that the opposition’s apprehensions about exposure of their alleged wrongdoings were the primary reason behind their absence.
The Chief Minister pointed out that opposition leaders seemed to have vested interests intertwined with individuals responsible for the state’s mismanagement, which, in his view, was the main driver for their reluctance to engage in the November 1 debate. He stated that these leaders bore the stain of betraying Punjab and its residents, asserting that they would never be absolved of their treachery.
Mann highlighted that the debate would center on critical issues affecting Punjab, including topics such as nepotism, favoritism, toll plazas, youth initiatives, agriculture, trade, shopkeepers’ concerns, Gurbani, and water resource management. These issues would be thoroughly discussed, and the opposition leaders would be held accountable for their actions, regardless of their participation.
The Chief Minister assured that the debate would proceed, even in the absence of the opposition leaders. He underscored that their seats would be reserved for the discussion.
Mann recalled that during previous administrations, citizens lived in constant fear of unwarranted interference from these leaders, who were known for meddling in people’s affairs. He criticized the opposition for their past exploitation of the public and insinuated that their avoidance of the debate was motivated by a fear of facing the truth. Mann concluded that the opposition leaders were resorting to various excuses to evade the forthcoming debate.
