Regional Passport Office committed to resolve people’s complaints

Amritsar,( Rahul soni)RPO Amritsar remains committed to providing hassle-free services to all the applicants and addressing their grievances. Series of steps have been taken in recent weeks by this office to deliver on our commitments. First of all, number of appointments in the last one month has been increased from 1555 to 1670. And in coming days, it will be further increased. PCC appointments which are available 65 on daily basis have been increased to 70 effective from today. Moreover, from January, PCC appointments will further be increased to 100.
Results of these efforts have also become visible in the availability of appointments. Normal appointments which were available after 03 months few months back are now available within one month at PSK, Amritsar and within 05 days at Back Office Camp and mobile vans. Tatkaal appointments which were also available after three months few months back are now available for the very next day. Similarly, PCC appointments waiting time has been reduced from three months to one month. RPO Amritsar is committed to further bring down the appointment cycle and more steps will be taken in this regard in coming days.
RPO Amritsar has also initiated walk-in appointments between 09:00 AM to 01:00 PM on all working days with the aim of addressing the grievances of the applicants at the earliest. Now any applicant can come in person without online enquiry to complete the deficiency in the file. Currently, on an average, RPO Amritsar is entertaining 250-300 enquiry requests (75 of online enquiry plus 175-225 walk-in enquiries) on daily basis. It has gone a long way in helping the public and addressing their grievances.
Besides this, RPO Amritsar has initiated a special drive to review all the cases pending for more than last six months. Hundreds of cases are being examined and cleared on daily basis, obviating the needs of applicants to visit passport.
