Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann vows to make Punjab a leading state by fulfilling Bhagat Singh’s dreams
Chandigarh, September 28, 2023:
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday vowed to make Punjab a leading state in the country by fulfilling the dreams of martyr Bhagat Singh.
Addressing a state-level function on the occasion of Bhagat Singh’s birth anniversary at Khatkar Kalan, his native village, Mann said that the state government is working hard to realize the dreams of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
“The government will ensure that no resident of the state has to leave their homeland and go abroad. Many big steps are already being taken by the state government in this regard, and no stone will be left unturned for this,” he said.
Mann also announced that the school syllabus will be changed to include the lives, ideologies and teachings of Guru Sahiban, Sant-Mahatma, Pir-Pagambam and Shaheed.
“The youth of the state should take inspiration from these holy souls and that is why there is a need to make appropriate changes in the syllabus of the schools. This will help in spreading the great heritage of the state to our future generations,” he said.
The Chief Minister said that Shaheed Bhagat Singh was a revolutionary who fought for the independence of India. He was also a visionary who wanted to create a corruption-free and poverty-free India.
“It is sad that the dreams of Shaheed-e-Azam are still unfulfilled as corruption, nepotism and poverty are still taking root. The people who took power after the British rule looted the treasury more ruthlessly than the British,” Mann said.
He called upon the people to rise above the narrow mindedness of caste, religion and race to make the country a leader, which would truly be a true tribute to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and other freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the sake of their motherland.
Mann also announced that a museum and library will be built in the house of Shaheed Bhagat Singh near Garhshankar.
“The museum in the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh is being upgraded, the work of which is in progress. This is the need of the hour to make the coming generations aware of the legacy of this great martyr,” he said.
Earlier, Cultural Affairs and Tourism Minister Anmol Gagan Mann welcomed the dignitaries.
On this occasion Cabinet Minister Anmol Gagan Mann, Chetan Singh Joudamajra, Balkar Singh, Bram Shankar Jimpa, Harbhajan Singh ETO, Dr. Baljeet Kaur and Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, Deputy Speaker of Vidhan Sabha Jai Krishna Rodi, Lok Sabha Member Sushil Kumar Rinku and others were also present.
