Ludhiana, September 7  :

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday inaugurated the Hindon-Ludhiana-Hindon flight, which has been delayed for more than two years. Air traffic has been restored from Ludhiana airport after a break. He also announced that for the first three months, Ludhiana to NCR air travel fare will be only Rs 999.

The Chief Minister described it as a historic day and said that due to the strenuous efforts of the state government, flights have started from Ludhiana airport after more than two years, which has brought great relief to the people of the industrial city.

He said that this flight will be operated by M/s Big Charter Private Limited Company in the name of Fly Big Airlines and initially this flight will be started for five days but from next month this flight will be operated for whole week. Bhagwant Singh Mann further said that it will take 90 minutes to reach Hindan (Ghaziabad) from Ludhiana through this flight.

The Chief Minister announced that the airline will offer Rs 999 per ticket for the first three months after the commencement of its flights as an initial gift. He said that Ludhiana to NCR journey will cost only Rs 999, which will be cheaper than a bus journey. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that its sole purpose is to ensure access to safe, cheap and comfortable air travel for the people of the state.


Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the Hindon-Ludhiana-Hindon flight on Wednesday, which will provide air connectivity to the industrial city after a gap of more than two years. The flight will be operated by Fly Big Airlines and will initially be available for five days a week. The one-way airfare has been capped at Rs 999 for the first three months, in a bid to boost economic activities and industrialization in the state. The Chief Minister also announced that flights from other airports in Punjab, including Adampur and Bathinda, will be started soon under the RCS-Udan scheme. The Halwara airport is also expected to become operational by the end of November 2023, which will further improve air connectivity in the state.


The Chief Minister said that with this, the entrepreneurs, businessmen and industrialists of the area will have great facility in transportation with other parts of the country, which will give a boost to trade, business and economic activities. He said that Delhi-NCR since there was no direct flight till now, people especially the industrialists had to face various problems while traveling from Punjab to the national capital by road. He said that this not only caused him unnecessary trouble, but also wasted his time, money and energy.

The Chief Minister hoped that the start of the flight would bring convenience to the people of this region and leading entrepreneurs from all over the world would take interest in investing in the state on a large scale. He said that this will give a boost to industrialization in Punjab and will also help in identifying Punjab as the most preferred investment destination.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has decided to pay the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) on all these 19 tickets in order to provide transport facilities at affordable rates to the people of the state. He said that in all these 19 seats VGF of Rs 11,829 per one-way ticket will be given by the state government. Reiterating the state government’s commitment to provide better air transport facilities to the people of Punjab, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the one-way basic fare of this flight will be around two thousand rupees.

The Chief Minister said that flights from other airports of the state will also be started soon for the convenience of passengers. He said that the air terminal in Adampur is ready and Spice Jet Airlines will start daily flights from Adampur to Nanded, Delhi, Goa, Kolkata and Bangalore in the next two months. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Star Alliance Company will also start a daily flight from Adampur to Hindon. He said that in the next two months, Alliance Air and Fly Bill Company will start flights from Bathinda to Delhi, Bathinda to Hindon airports respectively.

The Chief Minister announced that flights from Sahnewal Airport to Delhi Airport will be started by Alliance Air Company in the next two months under the RCS-Udan scheme. He said that it is a matter of pride that the Halwara airport will become operational by the end of November 2023. After this, more flights will be available for Ludhiana residents. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that this will give further impetus to the economic activities in the state, which will play an important role for the progress of Punjab and the well-being of the people.
