Punjab CM Condemns BJP for Questioning Patriotism of Sikh Police Officer in West Bengal
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has strongly condemned the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for questioning the patriotism of Sikh police officers serving in West Bengal. He termed the act as “unfortunate” and “intolerable.”
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Chief Minister expressed his disappointment with the BJP leadership for raising doubts about the loyalty of a community renowned for its dedication to the nation. He emphasized the countless sacrifices made by Punjabis, particularly the Sikh community, in securing India’s freedom. He further highlighted the pivotal role played by Sikh farmers in ensuring the country’s food security.
Chief Minister Mann went on to acknowledge the bravery and commitment of Punjabi soldiers who safeguard the nation’s borders. He expressed outrage at the BJP’s attempt to brand a diligent Sikh officer serving in West Bengal as “anti-national.” He condemned this act as a blatant insult to both Punjabis and the Sikh community as a whole.
Drawing inspiration from the teachings of Sikh Gurus who advocated fighting against tyranny and injustice, the Chief Minister declared that such humiliation would not be tolerated. He demanded an apology from the BJP leadership for the “irresponsible, callous, and discriminatory” remarks made by their members.
Expressing solidarity with the Sikh officer, Chief Minister Mann affirmed that the entire state of Punjab stands firmly behind him and his commendable service. He emphasized the officer’s dedication to his duty and unwavering commitment to upholding the law.
This statement by the Punjab Chief Minister serves as a strong rebuke against the BJP’s divisive rhetoric and underscores the unwavering patriotism of the Sikh community in India.
