Punjab Governor Extends Warm Dussehra Greetings to the People of Punjab and Chandigarh
Chandigarh, October 11:
The Punjab Governor and Administrator of Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria, conveyed heartfelt greetings to the people of Punjab and Chandigarh on the auspicious occasion of Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashmi. This festival celebrates the triumph of good over evil, with different regional interpretations across India—commemorating Goddess Durga’s victory over the demon Mahishasura in the eastern and southern states, and Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana in the northern and western regions. The Governor highlighted that Dussehra symbolizes the need to overcome ego and negativity, which represent evil, and to foster unity and love, symbolizing good. He emphasized that the values embodied by Lord Rama teach us to follow the path of righteousness (Dharma), even in the face of life’s greatest challenges. He expressed his hope that Dussehra will inspire people to remain committed to principles of truth and justice, while working collectively to promote the overall development and well-being of the state. Governor Kataria concluded with a call for compassion, love, and brotherhood to prevail over divisive forces that seek to spread darkness and discord.
