Punjab Police Introduces State-of-the-Art Road Crash Investigation Vehicle During 34th National Road Safety Month
Chandigarh, January 16: In a groundbreaking move to enhance road safety in Punjab, the state police, under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, unveiled its first Road Crash Investigation Unit Vehicle during the ongoing 34th National Road Safety Month. This innovative vehicle, equipped with advanced features and artificial intelligence, is designed to scientifically investigate and identify the root causes of accidents, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav.

DGP Gaurav Yadav emphasized that Punjab Police’s in-house development positions the state as a pioneer in the nation, offering cutting-edge capabilities for road safety initiatives. The scientific approach to investigating accidents will help identify issues related to road infrastructure, vehicles, or human error, marking a significant departure from traditional methods.
Deployment and Cost Efficiency: ADGP Traffic AS Rai announced the initial deployment of the vehicle in the Ropar Police range, with plans for future deployment at district levels throughout the state. The in-house development of the vehicle not only provided robust technological advancements but also resulted in a cost reduction of 1/20th compared to market alternatives for crash investigation vehicles, as stated by AIG Gagan Ajit Singh.
Technological Leap for Safer Roads: Traffic Advisor Dr. Navdeep Asija highlighted that the technological leap aligns with their commitment to data-driven decision-making and underscores the dedication to enhancing road safety in Punjab. The vehicle, equipped with speed cameras and alcometer for traffic violator detection, can also perform regular traffic enforcement duties.
This initiative reflects Punjab Police’s commitment to leveraging technology and innovation for a safer road environment, contributing to the overarching goal of minimizing road accidents.
