Punjab Police & Meta Collaborate for Deep Fake Workshop to Combat Online Misinformation

Directed by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, the workshop aimed to equip over 150 police personnel from various ranks with tools to counter the spread of misinformation.

Deep fake refers to digitally altered images, audio, or videos designed to appear authentic by replacing original content with fabricated material. During the workshop, Meta and MCA representatives discussed methods to identify, debunk, and combat misinformation on online platforms, focusing on publicly available tools and resources.

ADGP Cyber Crime V Neeraja highlighted the growing concern of misinformation and deep fake content, emphasizing Punjab Police’s commitment to safeguarding cyberspace. The training aimed to empower officers to utilize social media effectively to disseminate accurate information and combat fake content promptly.

DIG Cyber Crime Nilambari V Jagadale outlined Punjab Police’s initiatives, including the Rapid Information Communication Network (RICN) and State Cyber Crime Cell, to raise awareness about cyber fraud and promote cyber security measures. These efforts aim to sensitize citizens about cyber threats and encourage safe online practices.

Overall, the workshop signifies Punjab Police’s dedication to collaborating with stakeholders like Meta to combat misinformation and ensure a safer online environment for users.
