During the war against drugs on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab Police busted a cross-border drug smuggling racket and arrested a drug smuggler and recovered 5 kg of heroin from his possession. This information was given by Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here today.
The arrested accused has been identified as Harpal Singh alias Bhalla resident of village Lakha district Tarn Taran. Apart from recovering 5 kg of heroin, the police teams have also recovered a Bajaj Platina motorcycle from him, the registration number of which is PB46T4291.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said that during an intelligence-based operation, the counter-intelligence team of Amritsar arrested the accused Harpal during a special check on the village Tara Singh-Village Basarke road near Dera Radha Swami of Tarn Taran when he was on his Platina motorcycle. was going He said that after searching the arrested person, the police teams recovered 5 kg of heroin from his possession.
The DGP said that the preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested accused was actively involved in drug smuggling across the border. He said that the investigation has revealed that this consignment of heroin has been sent through a drone.
Sharing more details, AIG SSOC Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann said that investigations are on to identify the Pakistan-based smugglers and the persons who were to receive the consignment. He said that further investigation of this matter is going on.
