— Key Recoveries Include Hand Grenade, Pistols, and a Drone
— Arrested Operatives Linked to Pak-Based Harvinder Rinda and Foreign Handlers
Amritsar, December 6:
In a significant breakthrough aimed at bolstering Punjab’s security, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police have successfully foiled a planned grenade attack on a police establishment in Batala. Ten individuals, including four key operatives of a cross-border terror module, have been arrested in connection with the plot, according to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav.
The primary operatives were identified as Arjanpreet Singh (Awan Ramdas, Amritsar), Lovepreet Singh alias Love (Perhewal, Amritsar), Basant Singh, and Amanpreet Singh alias Aman (Baba Bakala Sahib, Amritsar). Their handlers—Harvinder Rinda (Pakistan-based), and foreign-based operatives Happy Passian, Jeevan Fauji, and Jashanpreet Singh alias Lal—are suspected to be the masterminds behind the module.
The remaining six individuals, who allegedly provided logistical support, include Barinderpal Singh alias Mani, Rajbir Singh alias Raju (both from Katle, Amritsar), Vishvas Masih alias Bhabbo (Bhaganpura, Amritsar), Dilpreet Singh alias Manna, Harjot Kumar alias Mithu, and Joyal Masih alias Rohan alias Nony (all from Dera Baba Nanak, Batala).
Seizures and Investigation:
Police teams seized critical items, including three pistols (.30 and .32 bore), a hand grenade, and a drone during coordinated raids across Ramdas (Amritsar Rural), Batala, and Amritsar City. The recoveries were made from Khana Chamara (Dera Baba Nanak), Awaan (Ramdas), and Vallah (Amritsar City), as detailed by Commissioner of Police (CP) Amritsar, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar.
Link to Previous Attack:
The arrests of Basant Singh and Amanpreet Singh have also led to the resolution of a November 28, 2024, attack on a police officer’s residence in Batala. CP Bhullar confirmed that efforts are underway to apprehend another main operative connected to the module.
