Punjab Police Vow to Crush Gangsters, Anti-Social Elements, and Drug Smugglers

CHANDIGARH  – November 30, 2023 – In a decisive move to combat rising crime and restore peace in Punjab, the Punjab Police has established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the connections of two gangsters who were neutralized in a recent encounter. The SIT, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Jaskiranjit Singh Teja, will delve into the backgrounds and associates of Sanjeev Kumar alias Sanju Bahman (26) and Subham alias Gopi (26), who were wanted for extorting money from a Ludhiana-based industrialist.

The encounter, which took place near Tibba Pul in Doraha, Ludhiana, on Wednesday evening, also resulted in the injury of one police personnel, ASI Sukhdeep Singh. The police have registered an FIR under sections 307, 332, 353, and 186 of the IPC, as well as sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, based on the statement of Inspector Kulwant Singh at Police Station Sahnewal.

Spl DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla, accompanied by Ludhiana Commissioner of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal, addressed a press conference at Punjab Police Headquarters (PPHQ) to provide updates on the encounter and the ongoing efforts to combat crime in the state.

“Both the deceased gangsters were history-sheeters with multiple criminal cases registered against them for offenses under the Arms Act, Robbery/Dacoity, and NDPS Act,” stated Spl DGP Arpit Shukla. “The Ludhiana Police have also recovered the Kia Seltos car that was snatched from the factory owner, which was in the possession of the arrested persons.”

Reiterating the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s commitment to creating a safe and secure Punjab, Spl DGP Shukla emphasized the Punjab Police’s unwavering dedication to eradicating gangsters, anti-social elements, and drug smugglers from the state. He assured the public that no one will be allowed to disrupt the hard-earned peace and harmony of Punjab.
