Punjab Police’s AGTF Thwarts Target Killings, Arrests Three Gang Operatives

In a significant breakthrough, Punjab Police’s Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) has successfully intercepted a potential wave of violence by apprehending three operatives affiliated with the notorious gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara of the Lawrance Bishnoi gang. The arrests, made in Zirakpur, Punjab, have prevented what could have been sensational crimes in the state, as announced by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

The apprehended individuals, identified as Ajay Singh alias Ajaypal, Ankit, and Lakhwinder Singh alias Lucky, were residents of Bhiwani, Haryana, and AKS Colony in Zirakpur. Notably, Ankit, with a criminal record rife with heinous offenses such as murder, attempted murder, extortion, and violations of the Arms Act, was wanted for the brazen daylight murder of rival gangster Jai Kumar alias Bhadar in Haryana.

Seizing upon actionable intelligence, AGTF teams, under the leadership of ADGP Promod Ban and supervised by AIGs Gurmeet Singh Chauhan and Sandeep Goel, tracked down and apprehended the suspects in a swift operation near Airport Road in Zirakpur. The police confiscated two .32 caliber pistols along with 11 live cartridges and impounded their Hyundai Aura vehicle.

According to DGP Gaurav Yadav, the arrested individuals were acting upon directives from overseas-based fugitive gangsters Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara to carry out targeted killings of rival gang members. Ankit, in particular, was implicated in the high-profile murder of Jai Kumar, a notorious criminal with a lengthy rap sheet.

AGTF’s ADGP Promod Ban disclosed that the apprehended suspects had also made failed attempts to execute similar targeted killings in Rajasthan. The ongoing investigation aims to unravel the full extent of their criminal network and activities.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Arms Act at the State Crime Police Station, SAS Nagar. The successful operation underscores Punjab Police’s relentless efforts to combat organized crime and maintain law and order in the region.
