Punjab’s Cyber Crime Division, led by ADGP V. Neerja, has taken a crucial step in combating cyber financial fraud by collaborating with leading banks. This initiative, aligned with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Maan’s vision for a safe Punjab, aims to streamline communication and expedite response times to protect citizens from online scams.
Punjab Police, under ADGP Cybercrime V. Neerja, and leading banks are joining forces to tackle cyber financial fraud. Banks will appoint dedicated nodal officers to handle complaints on the 1930 Cyber Helpline, enabling swift account blocking and investigation. The CFCFRMS system instantly freezes deposits in suspicious accounts linked to reported fraud. ADGP Neerja met bank representatives to discuss challenges and expedite complaint resolution. Banks will conduct awareness campaigns, display the 1930 helpline prominently, and provide timely access to investigation data. Personal home address verification during new account opening is mandated to prevent fake accounts. Over Rs. 20 crore has been frozen in suspicious accounts, with Rs. 1.5 crore returned to victims. Banks assured full cooperation to protect citizens from financial fraud. This collaboration strengthens Punjab’s fight against cybercrime and safeguards citizens’ online.
