Section 144 Order Imposes Prohibitions for H.C.S. (Judicial Branch) Preliminary Examination -2023-24
In anticipation of the H.C.S. (Judicial Branch) Preliminary Examination -2023-24 scheduled for 03.03.2024, District Magistrate, Sh. Vinay Pratap Singh, I.A.S., U.T., Chandigarh, has issued an order under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973.
Prohibitions Imposed:
The order aims to address concerns regarding potential disturbances, including annoyance, obstruction, danger to life and property, and the disruption of public peace and law and order. There’s a specific mention of preventing cheating via unlawful means, such as the use of Photostat machines or illegal aid from coaching centers near examination centers.
Inhibition in Detail:
1. Gathering of four or more persons (excluding candidates) within a 100-meter radius around examination centers.
2. Carrying of firearms and other weapons/articles capable of causing injury.
3. Raising slogans and displaying placards.
4. Operation of Photostat machine shops within 200 meters of examination centers.
5. Operation of coaching centers in the vicinity of examination centers within 200 meters.
Exemptions:
This order does not apply to police, para-military, military, or any other government servants on official duties.
Duration:
The order will be effective from 00:01 hours on 03.03.2024 until 23:59 hours of the same day.
Ex-parte Issuance:
Due to the urgency of the situation, this order is being issued ex-parte and is addressed to the general public.
Consequences of Breach:
Any breach of this order will lead to legal action under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant laws.
