Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu laid the foundation stone for the Sirmauri Haat in Puruwala, located in the Paonta Sahib Assembly constituency of Sirmaur district. This three-story haat, constructed with an investment of one crore rupees, will cover 450 square meters and provide basic facilities.

Inspired by the successful She Haat in Sarahan, the Sirmauri Haat aims to empower local communities by offering a platform to showcase and sell their handicrafts and traditional Sirmauri cuisine. This initiative will not only strengthen the regional economy but also create employment opportunities for members of the local Gram Panchayat and self-help groups. Tourists visiting the haat can savor authentic Sirmauri dishes and gain a deeper understanding of the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Chief Minister Sukhu emphasized the state government’s commitment to rural development. He shared his recent visit to Dubai, where he invited investors to explore opportunities in Himachal Pradesh’s power, tourism, and green energy sectors, assuring them of full support. The state’s focus on attracting sustainable investments aligns with its vision for environment-friendly industrial growth. Investors from Dubai are expected to visit Himachal Pradesh in January 2024.

The Chief Minister commended the innovative initiatives undertaken by the state government to achieve its goal of self-reliance. These efforts have garnered appreciation both within India and internationally.

Several dignitaries attended the foundation stone laying ceremony, including Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sanjay Awasthi, MLAs Sukh Ram Chaudhary, Vinay Kumar, Ajay Solanki, and former MLA Kirnesh Jung. Additionally, Deputy Commissioner Sumit Khimta, Superintendent of Police Raman Kumar Meena, Congress State Spokesperson and Secretary Rupendra Thakur, Congress State Secretary Avneet Singh Lamba, Dayal Pyari (Director of Jogindra Bank), Asgar Ali (member of the Board of Directors of the Food and Civil Supplies Corporation), Naseema Begum (member of the Board of Directors of the State Cooperative Bank), Bharat Bhushan Mohil, Congress Party Office Bearers, representatives of Panchayati Raj institutions, and members of self-help groups were present.

The Sirmauri Haat in Puruwala is a promising development that holds immense potential for the region. By promoting local businesses, preserving cultural traditions, and fostering sustainable growth, the haat can contribute significantly to the overall well-being of the Sirmaur community.
