SJVN CMD Lays Foundation Stone for Office Building at 210 MW Luhri Stage-1 HEP Project in Himachal Pradesh

Shimla, February 27, 2024: Smt. Geeta Kapur, Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (SJVN), visited the 210 MW Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Electric Project in Himachal Pradesh today. During her visit, she marked significant milestones by:

  • Laying the foundation stone of the Office Building at the Dam site in Palahi village, Kullu district.
  • Inaugurating Portable Cabins to serve as a temporary site office until the permanent building’s completion.

Project Progress Review and Encouragement:

Accompanied by project officials, Smt. Kapur conducted a thorough review of the project’s ongoing construction activities. These include:

  • Power House
  • Forebay and Plunge Pool
  • Nallah Diversion
  • Hydro-Mechanical and Electro-Mechanical Works

Expressing satisfaction with the progress, she encouraged all parties involved to maintain a planned approach to achieve critical project milestones.

Project Details and Impact:

  • The 210 MW Luhri Stage-1 Hydro Electric Project is located on the Satluj river, spanning Shimla, Kullu, and Mandi districts.
  • Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi laid the project’s foundation stone on December 27, 2021.
  • Estimated at ₹1810 crore, the project is expected to generate 758 million units of electricity annually upon completion.
  • It contributes significantly to the region and state through:
    • Community asset creation
    • Infrastructure development
    • Generation of direct and indirect employment opportunities
