Solo tabla recitals mesmerise music lovers at Pracheen Kala Kendra

A programme of solo tabla recitals organised by Pracheen Kala Kendra at the ML Koser Indoor Auditorium on Saturday here, left music-lovers spellbound for over an hour.
Aimed at promoting and preserving the fast-dwindling various genres of preforming arts, the young and up-coming generation of artistes are being anointed into the field of classical forms of art, the Kendra designed a special session of solo tabla recital, which brought music lovers from the far-end corners of the tricity to be a part of the sonorous soiree.
The basic idea behind organising this recital was an impassionate endeavour to preserve tabla repertory of the Punjab gharana as also to promote the craft of tabla playing among the young and up-coming artistes to showcase their innate skill.
These two young and talented tabla players – Swarit Panchal from Pune and Raghav Priyaye Bhardwaj from Amritsar, a disciple of SNA Awardee Pandit Sushil Jain, held the audience enthralled for over an hour. Both the prolific artistes are learning the rudimentaries of tabla playing (Punjab Gharana) from their Guru.
The programme got off to a stupendous start with a traditional Peshkar by Swarit Panchal, gradually unfolding in an alap-like elaboration, crisp and captivating kaidas with rhythmic variations of tabla playing within the frame of the jhap taal followed by 16-beat cycle of the tala with tricky numerical permutations and combinations. Young percussionist displayed different shades of tabla playing with perfection and incredible clarity and precision.
Next performer of the evening was Raghav Priyaye Bhardwaj who hopped on to the centre stage and held the audience spellbound for hours. He presented composite parans, gat, rela, tihais to prove his prowess in tabla playing.He shared an uncanny rappo with the listeners.
Dr. Gurpreet Singh Moga, a heartthrob among:phalanx of his ardent admirers in the audience, provided accompaniment on Lehra.
Among those present on the glittering occasion were Sajal Koser, Pandit Sushil Jain, who honored the artistes with mementos.
