The Chief Electoral Officer, Maneesh Garg, announced today that a Special Summary Revision of Photo Electoral Rolls is underway for all 68 Assembly Constituencies in the State, in accordance with the directives of the Election Commission of India.

On October 27, 2023, the draft publication of Photo Electoral Rolls was completed. These draft Photo Electoral Rolls are now available at each polling station within the relevant Assembly Constituencies and at the offices of Electoral Registration Officers (ADMs/SDMs)/Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildars) for public inspection, free of charge, from October 27, 2023, to December 9, 2023. Forms 6, 7, and 8, for lodging claims and objections, will also be accessible at these locations. Designated Officers have been appointed at each polling station to assist the general public with the inspection of electoral rolls and the submission of claims and objections.

To make the process more convenient for the general public, special campaigns will be conducted at each polling station on November 4-5, 2023, and November 18-19, 2023. These campaigns will allow citizens to confirm their enrollment, add eligible family members who were left out of the Photo Electoral Rolls, or file claims for deletions or modifications. Claims and objections will be addressed by December 26, 2023, and the final Electoral Rolls will be published on January 5, 2024.

Citizens can confirm their enrollment in the Photo Electoral Rolls and register through the internet on the department’s website: http://ceohmachal.nic.in, as well as through the NVSP portal.

In this regard, a special meeting was convened today with recognized national political parties, chaired by the Chief Electoral Officer. Chander Shekhar Sharma from the Indian National Congress and Dalip Singh from the Aam Aadmi Party participated and were briefed on the revision exercise schedule, legal provisions, and the importance of appointing Booth Level Agents. It was also noted that out of the total 7990 polling stations in the state, Booth level agents have been appointed in 6751 booths by INC, 7164 booths by BJP, 91 booths by BSP, 40 by CPI(M), 124 by AAP, and none by NPP.

The Chief Electoral Officer urged all citizens, political parties, NGOs, Mahila and Yuvak Mandals to inspect the Photo Electoral Rolls during the draft publication period from October 27, 2023, to December 9, 2023, and actively cooperate in including eligible electors’ names and removing ineligible ones.
