State Taxes and Excise department seizes gold jewellery worth Rs. 2.17 crore and takes action against illegal liquor

Acting on a tip-off, the State Taxes and Excise department seized gold jewellery worth Rs. 2.17 crore from different places in Shimla and Solan districts. The jewellery was being transported without valid documents. The department has also collected a fine of Rs. 13 lakh under the Goods and Services Tax Act (GST Act, 2017).

In addition, the department took action against illegal liquor in various districts of the state. It destroyed 200 liters of liquor and seized 23 boxes of English and country liquor. In Mandi district,

the department teams seized and destroyed 200 liters of Lahan. In Una district, the department team seized 8 boxes of English and country liquor which were being kept illegally. In Kullu district, the department teams seized 15 boxes of English and country liquor in three different cases and recovered Rs. 60,000 as a fine. In Shimla district, the department seized 25 bottles of illegal liquor.
